I know I've been slacking on the blogging, but I have an excellent excuse-the holidays. Every year it seems as though christmas sneaks up on me and every year I say that after the rush of the summer weddings, I will start to prepare for christmas. I have yet to follow that rule. Don't get me wrong-I wasn't the crazy shoppers in the mall on christmas eve, but I did have a few last minute gifts to pick up.
I love christmas. There's something about the fresh snow fall, beautiful lights, and scents of baked goodies that makes my heart skip a beat. I love that I can eat until my stomach hurts and use the excuse 'it's the holidays'. I also love that it's the one time of year where family gets together to celebrate under one roof.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful christmas and a happy new year!

Jenny and Joe-October 10, 2009
On Saturday, we had the honour in being apart of Jenny and Joe's wedding celebrations. It was the morning of the first snowfall, with a crisp cool breeze. The day couldn't have been more perfect. Jenny and Joe planned a traditional native wedding, which was a first for us! We couldn't have been more thrilled to be able to experience all of the culture and love their family shares.
The ceremony started at 11 am with a beautiful civil ceremony. The bride was stunning wearing a simple white dress, carrying a feather instead of the traditional bouquet. After the civil ceremony, the traditional native ceremony begun. I can't say enough good things about this wedding.
They had the traditional drumming where the bride and groom shared their first dance. The ceremony lasted about two hours, and definitely brought a tear to my eye. The bride and grooms love for each other was enriching. The hall was decorated in the traditional medicine wheel colours (red, yellow, white and black).
This event was also a big one for us because not only were we wedding coordinators, but we also were caterers! Yes, that's right-we cooked! The reception was filled with approximately 90 guests (25 children) and everyone enjoyed our home cooked meal! This is not a regular item on our services, but the bride and groom wanted a yummy home cooked meal and we couldn't refuse!
Alas, here are some photo's of their unique wedding day!

Wedding Show Tips For Brides
I'm getting started a bit early on this post, only because I was asked by a bride a few questions about the wedding show. This years Wedding Wishes Formal Affair will be on November 8, 2009 from 11:30 am-4:30pm. Here are a few good tips for you brides who are planning on attending this year:
*Set up a wedding email specifically for the show. You will get tons of emails from vendors after the show, and you don't need to have your regular email spammed. This way you can sit down one day and go through your wedding email to look for specials/deals vendors may be having.
*Make labels with your name, address, phone number, event date, and email on them. This will save you tons of time since you will need to write this information down at every vendors booth you decide to go to. I actually learned this from a bride on our first wedding show we had a booth at!
*Never feel pressured into anything. Remember, you are going to the wedding show to meet all the different vendors, not to sign contracts. If you do find a vendor that you're sure you'd like to book-then great! Feel free to book them if you can. Some vendors actually would prefer to meet with you at a later date to do so.
*If you meet a vendor that you'd like to book, make sure you follow up with them shortly after the show. Most of the vendors book up fast after a wedding show, so if you want the best of the best, be sure to act on it quickly.
*Wear comfortable shoes! I can't stress this enough. You will do a lot of walking around, and you'll want to be comfortable.
*Most of all, have FUN! This is your day to get out and have a full day filled with wedding things all in one stop.
See you there!

Jeanette and James joins us!
Jeanette and James are set to be married next September, and we couldn't be more thrilled. There's something about September weddings that make my heart skip a beat. Maybe it's the beautiful fall weather, or the warm fall colours that make September so inviting.
Over these next 11 months, we will work with Jeanette and James to create a beautiful italian wedding. They want a simple, but elegant wedding and want to ensure their guests get nothing but the best!
Keep your eyes open for updates and photos as we plan this beautiful couples wedding!
Happy Planning!

Candy buffets make wonderful favours!
We LOVE candy buffets. Period. Everytime I hear a bride mention that she may be interested in a candy buffet, my heart literally skips a beat! There are endless amounts of ideas for them, and you can get really creative. They also aren't pricey, which makes for a happy bride!
Your guests will remember picking out their own candy and filling their little box full of treats. A cute monogrammed box makes it complete. We've had the treat to having a few weddings this year with candy buffets, and they've all been a great success!

Introduction
The grand opening of A Dash Of Love is Sept 1!! We are more than thrilled to start this new adventure.
Previously, we were called "Fantasy Events" but decided to re-name our company as we've had many changes. The first big change is that Jen, my former assistant, has decided to become my partner! It's something we've always wanted and we are both excited to start this new journey together.
With all these new changes, we've decided to give out a discount! Book your 2010 date by December 31, 2009 and receive 20% off your package!
